Linear Integration
The Linear integration turns any security finding into a Linear issue in one click. Connect your Linear workspace once, choose how new issues should look, and anyone on your team can file a ready-to-work ticket straight from a finding - no copying and pasting.
What you can do
- File a finding as an issue in one click. Open a code issue, dependency, or secret finding and create a Linear issue from it without leaving the dashboard.
- Start with the issue pre-filled. The title, description, team, project, labels, and priority are filled in from the finding and your defaults. Edit anything before you create it.
- Never open the same ticket twice. Once a finding has an issue, the button becomes a link to it. Filing again opens the existing issue instead of creating a duplicate.
Connect Linear
Connecting uses a secure sign-in (OAuth). You approve access from inside Linear, and we never see or store your Linear password.
- Open the Integrations page and click Add integration.
- Under Issue tracking, choose Linear.
- You’re taken to Linear to review and approve access. Sign in if needed, then confirm.
- You’re returned to the dashboard, now connected.
One person - usually an admin - connects Linear once for your organization. The connection covers your whole Linear workspace, so everyone can file issues without each having to connect.
Choose your defaults
After connecting, open the integration’s menu (the ⋯ menu on its row) and choose Configure to set what new issues look like by default. Every value here is a starting point - it stays editable each time someone creates an issue.
- Team (required) - the Linear team new issues are created in.
- Project (optional) - a project to file issues under.
- Initial status - the workflow state new issues start in, such as Todo.
- Default assignee (optional) - who issues are assigned to.
- Labels - labels applied to every issue, chosen from the labels that already exist in your workspace.
- Severity to priority - map each finding severity to a Linear priority. By default, Critical becomes Urgent, High becomes High, Medium becomes Medium, Low becomes Low, and Info gets no priority.
Pick a team first. Its projects, statuses, labels, and members load once you do, since each Linear team has its own.
Create an issue from a finding
- Open any finding in the Code Issues, Vulnerabilities, or Secrets tab.
- Click Create Linear issue.
- A composer opens with the issue already filled in - title, description, team, priority, labels, and more. Change anything you like.
- Click Create issue.
The issue is created in your Linear workspace and linked back to the finding. The button then changes to View with the issue’s ID, so you can jump straight to it in Linear. Issues are created by Lumstep in your workspace, which makes them easy to spot.
What we access
We ask for the minimum needed to do the job:
Linear permissions
Read - your teams, projects, labels, and members, so issues can be pre-filled and sent to the right place.
Create issues - to file findings as issues in the team you choose.
We never see your Linear password, and we don’t read or change anything beyond what’s needed to create issues.
Disconnect
You can remove the connection at any time from the integration’s ⋯ menu by choosing Disconnect. New issues can’t be created after that, but any issues you already filed stay in your Linear workspace.
Requirements
- A Linear account and workspace.
- Someone with permission to approve apps in your Linear workspace to do the initial connect.
